Fraser Hine: A Painter's Perspective . . .
A painting must be much more than just a nice picture to hang on your wall. Each time you view a painting it should not merely be seen but rather fully 'experienced', as the viewer senses the impact and dimension of what he sees and intrigued by it, is drawn into the work. He adds to it the memories of his own experience, fills in the details of his own interpretation, and experiences the moment anew each time he views the painting. It's an artist's interpretation of a time and place, but always leaving a place open to the viewer to discover and interpret for himself what he sees.
Fraser uses as his inspiration the special beauties of life and nature in his home area, as he describes it, "somewhere between the mountains and the prairies". Born in Canada, he grew up in Central Saskatchewan and currently makes his home in Calgary Alberta, where he pursues his painting career with a passion that few other interests can incite.
His hope is that as others view his work, passion is aroused, a sense of awareness is stirred and ultimately a sharing of the emotions that went into producing each painting. As the viewer experiences this, the painter's job is fulfilled.
